How Utah taxes wages in 2026

Utah applies a flat 4.45% rate to taxable income. S.B. 60 (2026 General Session) cut the rate from 4.5% to 4.45%, retroactive to January 1, 2026; the Tax Commission's revised withholding tables (Publication 14, Rev. 4/26) apply to pay periods beginning June 1, 2026, so early-2026 withholding used 4.5%. Utah has no standard deduction or personal exemption; instead a nonrefundable taxpayer tax credit (6% of the federal standard or itemized deduction plus dependents, phased out above roughly $18,200 single / $36,400 joint AGI) applies and is not modeled, so tax is overstated for lower incomes. No local income taxes.
