About SalaryToNet

SalaryToNet is an independent, free paycheck calculator that shows what a salary is worth after federal, Social Security, Medicare, and state taxes in every US state.

Why this site exists

Most paycheck calculators handle one state at a time and hide their assumptions. SalaryToNet was built to answer the question people actually ask when comparing job offers or thinking about a move: "How much more or less would I keep?" You can compare up to three states side by side, save scenarios on your device, and see every bracket, deduction, and exemption the estimate uses.

Who builds it

Bob Shih, founder of SalaryToNet.

With 17 years of professional experience in the financial industry, specializing in pricing, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and budgeting, along with 26 years of personal finance and investing experience, I bring a combination of professional expertise and real-world perspective to financial education.

I hold a Master's degree in Finance from Georgia State University and an engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. My background in finance, technology, and analytical problem-solving shapes how I approach investing, financial planning, and everyday money decisions.

I believe financial education should be accessible, practical, and easy to understand. Through this website, my goal is to simplify complex topics, empowering readers with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions and build a more secure financial future.

SalaryToNet is not affiliated with any government agency, payroll provider, or tax-preparation company, and it sells nothing. The site is supported by advertising.

How the numbers are kept accurate

Federal figures come from the IRS inflation-adjustment notice for the tax year and the Social Security Administration's published wage base. Each state's rates, brackets, standard deduction, and exemptions are checked against the state revenue department and cross-checked against the Tax Foundation's annual survey. As of today, 47 of 51 state entries are fully confirmed for 2026; the rest are flagged on their pages while the state finishes publishing. Every assumption and simplification is listed on the methodology page, and each state page links to its sources.

When a state changes its rates mid-year, the data file is updated and the whole site is rebuilt, so every page reflects the same figures.

What this site is not

SalaryToNet provides estimates for education and planning. It is not tax, legal, or financial advice, and it does not replace your employer's withholding calculation or a professional's review of your situation.
