How Ohio taxes wages in 2026

Ohio uses a graduated schedule with a top marginal rate of 2.75%. A personal exemption of $2,400 applies. Ohio moved to a flat 2.75% on nonbusiness income above $26,050 for 2026 (H.B. 96); same schedule for all filing statuses. The statute adds a fixed $332 base amount once income exceeds $26,050 (R.C. 5747.02: '$332.00 plus 2.75% of the amount over $26,050'), which a pure bracket model omits, so tax is understated by up to $332 for incomes above the threshold. The $2,400 personal exemption applies at MAGI of $40,000 or less; it is $2,150 up to $80,000, $1,900 up to $500,000, and zero at MAGI of $500,000 or more. Exemption indexing is suspended for 2025 and 2026. Exemption credits, the joint filing credit, and municipal income taxes (up to about 3%) are not included.
